A week after the June 2 election, Pablo Lemus Navarrocandidate for the Citizen Movement, received the certificate of majority as Governor-elect in Jalisco.
At 7:00 p.m. on June 9, the Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute (IEPC) in the state of Jalisco met to present the certificate of majority to the new governor of the entity.
According to official count records, Pablo Lemus secured a total of one million 626 thousand 941 votes in Jaliscothus representing 43.17 percent of the electoral preference.
With this support, the Citizen Movement candidate is recognized as the winner of the electoral race for governor in the state of Jalisco, thus marking a historic moment in his political career.
Key dates for the new Governor
Although recognition has been granted, Pablo Lemus will officially assume office as governor of Jalisco until December 6, 2024. His tenure will extend until December 5, 2030, during which time he is expected to work towards the development and welfare of the state.
The IEPC computation provides a detailed view of the electoral results, showing that Citizen Movement, led by Pablo Lemus, obtained significant support with 43.17% of the votes. These numbers confirm the legitimacy of his victory at the polls.
Despite the official results, the Morena candidate, Claudia Delgadillo maintains her position of requesting a recount of votes, arguing that he does not accept the victory of Pablo Lemus and alleging that the election of the people of Jalisco is not being respected. This debate will continue to be part of the political landscape in Jalisco.
