[Aggiornamento: abbiamo incluso nella notizia le informazioni aggiuntive trapelate nelle ore successive all’annuncio ufficiale di Ramattra.]
Blizzard has unveiled the new hero of Overwatch 2: this is the Omnic Ramattra tank. The announcement came, as we already knew, during the 2022 Overwatch League Finals. Ramattra is the leader of the Omnic Null Sector group, a group of robots fighting for liberation against humanity in the world of Overwatch. He will be available from December 6, 2022.
In the video of the origins of the hero which you can see below, Ramattra explains that he was created to “lead the Omnics to war”, but actually wanted to live in peace and harmony with both Omnics and humanity. After attempting to coexist, Ramattra finally gives up hopeful desire for him and begins waging war on humans and forming the Null Sector. Fans may also recognize him from the Storm Rising archives, where we see Doomfist talking to Ramattra about the possibility of working together to achieve their goals.
Ramattra will be the 36th hero to be added to the game’s roster. Unlike other tanks, Ramattra will not have a traditional play style, but will have two forms that will change the way you play. The Omnic form will provide defensive abilities to support the team, while the Nemesis form will allow you to go on the attack, taking down enemies and dealing more damage.
We don’t have any gameplay footage from Ramattra yet, but we should get more information about it soon. The images released in these hours, it would seem due to a leak, show the new tank in gameplay situations that confirm what Blizzard anticipated in a recent round table: Ramattra should be able to produce a force field capable of slowing down or paralyze the opponents, and this would make him an excellent choice in the containment of the most aggressive teams. In addition, he will have one Ultra although he can use two forms of combat.
Overwatch 2 Lead Narrative Designer Gavin Jurgens-Fyhrie also pointed out the importance of in-game interactions between Ramattra and Zenyattaas the two have known each other for a long time in the history of the game: these dialogues will offer players more details on the history of the Omnic support present on the roster since the release of Overwatch, so Blizzard suggests that you listen to them when both are present in the team.
Art director Dion Rogers, on the other hand, could not confirm or deny the presence of a Mythic model for Ramattra in the Season 2 Battle Pass, as it appears that they are working on several models of this type for the months to come, and has hinted. that Blizzard is thinking about Battle Pass and the requisites necessary to unlock the new hero compared to what is required to get Kiriko in Season 1 (and that is the level 55 which has caused a lot of discussion in the community).
For now, however, there are still many aspects of Ramattra that Blizzard intends to clarify in the few weeks that separate us from the start of Season 2. This will be the fourth new hero added to Overwatch 2 since its release, but it is not excluded that others will come. modified in Season 3in which no unreleased heroes will be added.
We also remind you that Blizzard is asking players what they think of microtransactions.
