It was officially presented in China in October and now, a month later, the new Oppo Find X8 Prothe company’s brand new flagship, lands exclusively in Europe. It has a high price (1,249 euros), but it must be recognized that Oppo has put the rest into this device: the latest and very powerful Mediatek processor, Dimensity 9400; quad rear camera with 50 megapixel sensors (two of them telephoto lenses) and Hasselblad optics; 5910 milliamp battery with 80W fast charging; advanced artificial intelligence functions… Well, it doesn’t lack detail.
Built in aluminum and glass, the terminal sports an elegant design, with dimensions of 162.2 x 76.6 x 8.2 mm, with a total weight of 215 grams. At the back, the four cameras are housed in a really thin circular module that barely protrudes from the casing, a great engineering achievement. The screen, 6.78-inch Infinite View, is huge, but that is compensated by the extreme thinness of the four-layer glass that completely surrounds it, curved like the frames, just 1.9 mm, and allowing a Excellent grip and a good level of one-handed operation. The adaptive refresh rate is 120 Hz and the maximum brightness is up to 1,600 nits, which increases to 4,500 nits when the terminal plays HDR content.
The new Find of water up to 80 degrees Celsius. In addition, and thanks to Splash Touch technology, the screen responds perfectly to touch commands even if our hands are wet or if we are in heavy rain.
With the Hasselblad guarantee
As for photography, it must be said that with this terminal Oppo redefines the offer in this field, which rises to levels not reached until now. The terminal, in fact, has a new camera system (Hasselblad Master) with a novel double zoom whose capabilities are also enhanced by AI. Thus, we find four cameras, 50 megapixels each: A Sony LYT 808 main sensor and f/1.6 aperture; a 120-degree wide angle and f/2.0 aperture; and two telephoto lenses (a Sony LYT-600 with 3x optical zoom and an f/2.6 aperture, and an IMX 858, also from Sony, with a 6x zoom and f/4.3). In short, it is the first smartphone in Europe that incorporates two periscopic cameras.
But it’s not all hardware power in the cameras. A powerful Artificial Intelligence software, called AI Telescopic Zoom, monitors and corrects the quality when we use the zoom, allowing magnifications of up to 60x. On the other hand, Instant AI captures bursts of photos (7 frames per second) with a simple long press of the shutter button and presents the best possible result on the screen. As we have recently seen in Apple’s new iPhone 16, the Find X8 Pro also has, on the right side, a quick action button that allows you to operate the camera horizontally. Two quick touches activate the camera, one touch triggers it and if we slide our finger we will control the zoom.
Regarding video, we have HDR Dolby Vision, which allows 4K resolution and 60 fps from all cameras, including the front one, which is a 32-megapixel Sony IMX615 with an f/2.4 aperture. In the absence of in-depth testing in our laboratories, suffice it for now to say that these photographic credentials show a lot of promise.
Power in abundance
To power the terminal, Oppo has opted for the new MediaTek processor, Dimensity 9400, built with 3 nanometer technology and more than a third more powerful than any of the previous ones. A true beast that also consumes up to 35% less energy when performing the most demanding Artificial Intelligence tasks. It is accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage space. In the connectivity section, it is enough to say that the phone has 20 antennas, which allows it to maintain coverage even in the most complicated environments. The LinkBost AI system, in fact, improves link performance by 50%, something that is noticeable if we are in very crowded places, such as a stadium or a concert hall, or very closed, such as an elevator or a basement.
The battery, for its part, is 5,910 milliamps, and has an 80W Supervooc fast charging system, which allows it to be recharged in a few minutes.
AI Experiences
The firm did not want its new terminal to lack a single one of the main AI applications that exist until now. AI Eraser, for example, which allows you to erase objects or people from a photo and fill the space they occupied with the background, has been updated to achieve much more efficient object detection and generative filling. AI Clarity Enhance, for its part, converts any low-resolution photo into a very high-resolution, totally sharp one. AI Unblur focuses on natural details, colors and textures, such as skin or hair, and perfectly restores them when they are blurred in the original photo. AI Reflection Remover, finally, acts as a magic brush that eliminates glare and reflections that could have sneaked into the images. Additionally, with AI Studio, users will be able to directly generate their own avatars, choosing from various styles and backgrounds.
Other tools, such as AI Summary, AI Speak, AI Replay and AI Writer, all within the AI Toolbox menu, summarize or verbalize any text, or automatically respond to an email.
The new Oppo Find X8 Pro, in two colors (Space Black and Pearl White), is now on sale in our country with a 16 GB + 256 GB configuration and at a price of 1,249 euros. Those who purchase the terminal before December 8 will also receive a gift pack, valued at 367.90 euros, which includes the Oppo Watch X smartwatch, an 80W Supervooc charger and an exclusive case from the brand.
