Among the many versions in which the new generation of Opel Astra can be purchased, the plug-in hybrid, the one where the concept of electrification is pushed further to the limit by waiting for the 100% electric version of the model that will arrive next year. There are many advantages brought by the PHEV powertrain of the new Astra, consisting of an electric motor, a 1.6 petrol engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The specifications speak of a total power of 180 HP and a maximum torque of 360 Nm.
The first advantage concerns the maximum power, which is fiscally reduced to 150 HP released by the petrol engine alone: this allows an economic advantage that is added to the significant reduction of the annual stamp for three or five years from registration in numerous Italian regions. Not only that: since it is a plug-in hybrid car, in fact, free access to toll urban areas is guaranteed, as is parking on the blue lines, clearly according to local regulations. There freedom of movementmoreover, it continues on the days in which the traffic block for polluting vehicles is in force. It is good to keep in mind that a 12.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, which when fully charged, guarantees a zero-emission driving range of 60 kilometers to power the plug-in hybrid powertrain of the new Astra. .
Opel has announced that the plug-in hybrid range of the new Astra will shortly be completed with a new 225 hp variant. Recall that already today the plug-in hybrid technology is flanked by endothermic engines with the 110 and 130 HP 1.2 turbo petrol and the 130 HP 1.5 Diesel: the price list of the new Opel Astra starts at 24,500 euros, which become 35,300 euros for the plug-in hybrid version. However, the technical specifications and price lists that will be introduced with the full electric version of Astra are still unknown: the appointment is set for 2023.
