A young man in his early 20s knifed passengers inside a Tokyo subway train on Sunday and left at least ten people injured. He also set fire to the car with flammable liquid on the day Japan holds its general elections.

The event happened on the Keio suburban line, near the Kokuryo station (west of the capital), around 8:00 pm (local time, 8:00 am Brasília), just as the voting centers closed the elections for the Lower House of the Japanese Parliament. One of the wounded is in serious condition, according to the state broadcaster “NHK”.
