Omicron, half of Italy in yellow, but the numbers are already orange
The Coronavirus in Italy continues to scare. There omicron variant advances at an incredible speed, the contagion is exponential and the hospitals back to being in great difficulty, both in ordinary departments than in those of intensive care. The race to vaccines he continues, but the 5 million people discovered remains a very high number in view of herd immunity. The effect of the fourth wave of Covid – we read in the Press – is also felt on the color assigned to the regions, associated with the restrictions in force: from today they enter yellow zone also Piedmont, Lombardy, Lazio And Sicily, which are added to Veneto, Friuli, Trentino–South Tyrol, Liguria, Marche And Calabria. This is almost two out of three Italians (in total 37 and a half million people involved), but at the level of rules practically nothing changes, given that the obligation to wear a mask outdoors already concerns the whole country and the regulations of the Super Green Pass they divide the vaccinated (or cured) from those who have not yet started or completed the immunization cycle.
The problem – continues La Stampa – is that the occupancy percentages of hospital beds continue to increase at least in eight regions, among which is the Liguria to see the risk first Orange with 22% of intensive care coverage (the limit is 20%) and 28% of the ordinary wards (the limit is 30%). Hospitalized on the rise also in Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, Sicily, Tuscany and Umbria. The number of hospitalized for Covid in the ordinary departments it rises to 11,756 (491 more than on Saturday), while in intensive care there are 1,319 patients, with 104 admissions and 22 more inpatients than two days ago.
