The Omani News Agency reported today that the missing persons, one of whom was a child in pools, and another drifted inside his vehicle in the Wilayat of Al Amerat.
According to the agency, it was decided to cut off traffic in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah and not allow movement except for emergency and humanitarian cases, due to the proximity of the eye of the cyclone to the area where it entered the land, in anticipation of the expected heavy rain and the intensity of the accompanying winds, and for the safety of lives.
Movement has been cut off on the streets of the Governorate of Muscat, except for the Muscat Expressway, and it will allow the movement of emergency and humanitarian cases until the passage of Hurricane (Shaheen) and the end of its effects on the Governorate of Muscat due to the increase in unnecessary movement and movement of vehicles and individuals, and the resulting cases of vehicle detention.
In turn, the National Committee for Emergency Management in the Sultanate of Oman called on citizens to leave homes and go to shelters during the current period.
Major Muhammad bin Salam Al-Hashami said that the Governorate of Muscat is currently witnessing heavy rains of varying intensity.
He pointed out that the low-lying areas located on the coastal strip of the Governorate of Muscat, namely Qurum, Azaiba and Al Ghubra, as well as Seeb adjacent to the coastal strip, are witnessing a rise in the water level due to the extended waves, and this may increase in the coming time in the rise in the water level and the entry of water into the homes.
Al-Hashami stated that the damage that was monitored was that water entered the houses, and some people were evacuated from the houses, especially from the Al-Zahiya area in the Wilayat of Muttrah, and there are calls for some citizens to leave the house.
He stressed the importance of the initiative by citizens to leave their homes and go to shelters during the current period, noting that the increase in the situation in the coming time causes difficulty in the process of removing citizens as a result of the worsening situation.
He expected an increase in the amount of rain, the flow of valleys, a rise in sea waves and the level of tides to the depths, and consequently a rise in the level of water inundation in homes.
Al-Hashami noted to be careful and not to go out, noting that a number of reports of vehicle drifting and the detention of people inside vehicles in the Governorate of Muscat were monitored, and they were dealt with by the Civil Defense Authority teams and various police formations.
He said that there is no case of utmost necessity than self-protection, pointing out that the critical illness is the case that may require exit.
The rescue teams responded to nine reports about the detention of people in their vehicles in the Governorate of Muscat as a result of heavy rains resulting from the effects of the tropical situation (Shaheen) and managed to rescue 25 people, all of whom are in good health.
The Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority said that its teams were able to rescue 10 people due to rainwater entering their house in the Qurum area in the Wilayat of Muttrah, and they are in good health.
Heavy rain continues in South Al Batinah Governorate and parts of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate within the direct effects of the tropical situation, and the rescue teams of the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority managed to rescue two people after their vehicle was impounded in Al Azaiba in the Wilayat of Bausher, who are in good health.
The water level in the Al Zahia area in the Wilayat of Muttrah rose as a result of the direct effects of the tropical situation (Shaheen), as citizens and residents were directed to climb to the top of their homes.
Al-Nahda Hospital was also evacuated in anticipation of any rise in the water level due to the tropical situation, in addition to the closure of the commercial area in Qurum due to the gradual rise in the water level.
The National Center for Emergency Situations Management directed the need to expedite the process of evacuating the commercial district and the Lallaj area in Qurum, and the electricity will be cut off to avoid any danger.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources called on farmers, beekeepers and livestock breeders to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of beehives and livestock, calling on everyone to stay away from valley streams and not to approach dams.
