Justice suspects a 15-year-old suspect from The Hague of manslaughter because he allegedly pushed a man in front of the tram earlier this week, after which the victim died. The minor will be brought before the examining magistrate on Friday, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) said. Thursday announced. Two other suspects, ages 15 and 18, have been released. The Public Prosecution Service no longer suspects them of causing a fatal incident, but of “leaving a person in need”, because they may have run away after the man ended up under the tram and then died of his injuries.
The incident happened on Monday evening in The Hague. The victim was a 39-year-old man of no fixed abode. He is said to have visited the boys “several times” near the tram stop. A spokesperson for justice says that the man has approached the boys several times, but it is not known what he said to them. The 15-year-old then pushed the man, according to justice, after which he fell and ended up in front of a hitting tram and died. The Public Prosecution Service states that the boy was aware that the vehicle was approaching the moment he pushed the man.
Justice calls for an extension of the pre-trial detention of the suspect. The judge will make a decision on this Friday afternoon. The 15-year-old suspect is said to have run away from the incident along with the other two boys, after which the police launched a search and called on citizens to look out for them. In the night from Monday to Tuesday, a team specialized in large-scale investigations conducted an investigation into the case, led by the judiciary. Finally, one of the suspects reported to the police station in The Hague that same night; Tuesday the other two followed.
