The link between Red Bull and Honda – interrupted at least from a formal point of view with the abandonment of the Japanese engineer at the end of the last, victorious, season – will continue as a partnership at least until the end of the 2025 championship. same team as Milton Keynes, who had already stressed several times during this season how the bond with Tokyo was solid and very important in guaranteeing the results of the RB18 on the track. The collaboration, as explained in the official press release, will see Honda Racing Corporation continue its commitment alongside Red Bull Powertrains, the newly created division of Red Bull that deals with power units. However, the document released by Milton Keynes also states that “the current agreement with Red Bull does not involve the development of the power units and HRC will be able to continue its collaboration with Red Bull with its current resources”.
Koji Watanabe, head of Honda’s corporate communications oversight unit and president of Honda Racing Corporation tried to better explain this new agreement: “We have agreed to continue supporting Red Bull Powertrains in Formula 1 through HRC, following the request for Red Bull to extend our current agreement, which HRC can fulfill within its current resources. Once again, we aim to use our involvement in the highest level of motorsport for the development of technologies and our workforce ”. “We thank Honda for its positive response to the proposal to continue the collaboration – commented Helmut Marko – we are thrilled to continue our collaboration in F1 until the end of 2025 with the PU supplied by Honda. We have had a successful relationship so far, winning the Drivers ‘Championship in 2021 and we are currently leading the Drivers and Constructors’ standings, with the aim of securing both titles in 2022. ”
