Superbike and Misano still together
Special weekend for the circuit ‘Marco Simoncelli’, and not only for welcoming the Superbike after a long break that had lasted since the end of April. Today, in fact, the top championship of motorcycles derived from series production announced the agreement with the top management of the Romagna track for the official renewal of the contract which will guarantee the carrying out of the Emilia-Romagna round.
The first comments after signing
Misano, which has hosted the Superbike since 1991, will remain on the calendar until 2029. An agreement that was enthusiastically commented on by Gregorio Lavilla, Executive Director of World SBKfor a significant economic impact also on local tourism estimated by Trademark Italia at around 30 million euros: “We are happy to continue this long-standing relationship with the Misano World Circuit – he has declared – The Emilia-Romagna Round represents a key event for WorldSBK, known for its passionate fans and excellent organisation. This contract extension until 2029 reflects our commitment to bringing world-class racing to this historic track. We look forward to more years of exciting racing and memorable moments here in Misano.”
Comment added to that of Luca Colaiacovo, President of Santa Monica SpA: “After a season of significant investments in the structure by the Financo owners, we are laying the foundations to guarantee MWC and this territory a calendar always worthy of one of the world capitals of motorsport – he added – the synergy is winning: MWC guarantees an organizational capacity and a destination that multiplies the success of the events thanks to our collaborative efforts. We are experiencing a record-breaking 2024, expecting to reach 800,000 visitors and at the same time we are laying the foundations for further developments. Basically, we never stop.”
These statements are echoed by those of Andrea Albani, Managing Director of the Misano World Circuit: “Major events like WorldSBK fuel interest in motorsport and at the same time guide the development of a long and complex supply chain to which we have given ever greater value. Opportunities such as multiple commercial appointments, House tests and the expansion of the business network at MWC Square are positive and concrete effects, up to the organization of the ITS Maker to train quality professionals useful to companies. The renewal until 2029 generates confidence and also optimism among entrepreneurs in our field.”
