OFFICIAL: Luka Modric renews one more season with Real Madrid

Good news for Madrid fans. According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid and Luka Modric will remain together for at least one more season. The Croatian’s contract expired on June 30, so he will remain linked to the white team until June 2025.

The club and the player met in Valdebebas in recent days and managed to reach an agreement, after the midfielder accepted a reduction in his salary by half. Therefore, from the 10 million euros that he currently earned, it will increase to 5.

At 38 years old, Luka Modric’s future has taken a radical turn. The Croatian has had one of his most complicated seasons since he lost his position as the undisputed starter in Ancelotti’s eleven and ended up relegated to the bench, especially in the first part of the season. All this seemed to indicate that the talented midfielder would leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, when his contract expired.

However, in the final part of the season, the Croatian added more minutes and games as a starter, once again feeling like an important piece within the team. Finally, both parties have decided to extend their relationship until 2025.

Modric will play his 13th season with the Real Madrid shirt. In those twelve seasons, the Croatian midfielder has played a total of 531 games in which he has scored 39 goals and distributed 87 assists. In addition, he has won 25 titles and has received several individual distinctions, including the Ballon d’Or in 2018.
