It’s official: Duván Vergara will miss the 2022 Club World Cup with Monterrey. The Colombian winger was injured in the match on day 3 of the Clausura 2022 of Liga MX against Cruz Azul. After carrying out the studies, the torn ligaments and lateral meniscus of the Rayados footballer’s right knee were confirmed. According to the most recent reports, the player will undergo an operation and will be out of action for the remainder of the semester.
Monterrey will debut in the Club World Cup next Saturday, February 5, against Al-Ahly. In case of beating the Egyptian team, the Monterrey team will face Palmeiras, champion of the Copa Libertadores, on Tuesday, February 8. This match will define one of the two finalists of the international fair and it is most likely that they will play this phase against Chelsea, winner of the UEFA Champions League.
