Obesity is a public health problem. This is the cornerstone of the Venice Declaration 2024 signed at the Lido of Venice on the occasion of the 31st European congress on obesity, organized by Easo (European Association for the Study of Obesity) where the leading experts – from 12 to 15 May – met appointment to discuss how to speak correctly, from a clinical, social and political-health point of view, about a disease that is still little considered and reported incorrectly. Among the points of the document, in addition to the recognition of obesity as a chronic non-communicable disease, equal access to treatments, no discrimination, support for interventions based on scientific evidence, adoption of an overall approach favoring the exchange of data, improvement of access to primary and not just specialist care, use of artificial intelligence for analysis of big data.
