The majority of those surveyed fear that the phase-out will result in a further increase in energy prices. Only the younger age groups are currently voting for the end of nuclear power.
EThe majority of citizens in Germany are opposed to the nuclear phase-out, which will take place on Saturday when the last three nuclear power plants will be shut down. 59 percent of those surveyed stated in the “Deutschlandtrend” for the ARD morning show on Friday that they thought the decision was wrong. Only a third (34 percent) described the step as correct.
According to the information, approval for the end of nuclear power is currently only found in the 18 to 34 age group (50 percent for and 39 percent against). In the middle and older age group, rejection prevailed.
Among the supporters of the parties, there were majorities in favor of leaving the Greens (82 percent) and the SPD (56 percent). Supporters of the Union (81 percent) and AfD (81 percent) are clearly against it. In the case of the FDP, 65 percent consider the nuclear shutdown to be wrong.
The majority of those surveyed are concerned that the turn towards more climate-friendly energy will also be accompanied by a further increase in prices. Two out of three participants in the survey have very big (26 percent) or big concerns (40 percent) about an increase in energy prices. Only a third worry little (25 percent) or not at all (seven percent).
