Novo's pre-candidate for Mayor of SP gives Milei's speech for baby to 'hear' in her belly

The pre-candidate for Mayor of São Paulo Marina Helena (Novo-SP) published a photograph this Saturday, the 20th, in which she places the speech of the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, for her baby to “listen”. The economist is pregnant with a boy and recorded the moment when Milei was speaking at the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland.

Holding a cell phone and a headset on her belly, Marina Helena recorded the moment on a social network. “Awakening my little lion: Long live Freedom!”, she wrote in the caption of the photo.

Milei spoke in Davos on Wednesday, 17th. The Argentine president defended capitalism and, more specifically, libertarianism. At the World Economic Forum, he said that “the West is in danger”, faced with the risk of socialism, as world leaders “have abandoned freedom for collectivism”. Milei described businesspeople as “heroes” and said that “the State is not the solution, it is the problem itself”. The president of Argentina, however, did not address the situation in his own country.

“Capitalism is fair and morally superior”, he argued, highlighting the fact that the world today is “richer and more prosperous than at any time in our history”.

Marina Helena was a candidate for federal deputy for Novo in 2022, when she received 50,073 votes in São Paulo. The economist is the party's first substitute in the Chamber. In other words, if any parliamentarian leaves his seat in the Chamber, he will be called to occupy the seat in Brasília.

The pre-candidate was also part of Paulo Guedes' team at the Ministry of Economy, during the government of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). During her time in the department, Marina Helena was director of Privatization.

The economist announced her pre-candidacy for mayor of São Paulo on October 30 last year, on a social network. At the time, she stated that there are “many problems to solve, such as violence” in the capital of São Paulo.

In the 2022 elections, Marina Helena declared assets of R$8.6 million. The economist put together the Novo government plan for the 2020 municipal elections – when Filipe Sabará was the party's candidate – and was CEO of the Millenium Institute, a liberal entity founded by Guedes. Before her political career, she worked in the financial market and in banks.
