The sector's union says it wants to raise awareness among society and authorities about “best practices” aimed at the “health” of the population
Sindicerv (National Union of the Beer Industry) intends to discuss with authorities and society the taxation of alcoholic beverages in April. To this end, the category launches the campaign “next Wednesday (April 3, 2024)Nothing like a beer“. An event in Brasília also intends to highlight the future scenario of the sector, according to the union.
In the tax reform approved last year, a selective tax is foreseen for products that cause harm to the environment and health, such as alcoholic beverages. It is still necessary to approve a complementary law to regulate the tax.
The campaign, stated Sindicerv, wants to “raise awareness about best tax practices“, Looking to “health” of the population. At the meeting, the category intends to address an overview of international taxes on the product.
Sindicev represents 85% of national beer production. According to the union, the sector accounts for 2% of the Brazilian GDP (Gross Domestic Product).
