The wait for the United States Grand Prix is finally over for both enthusiasts and drivers, who have restarted the engines during free practice on the circuit of Austin. Among the curiosities of the Texan weekend, one in particular focuses on helmet liveries adopted by several speed riders, who will take to the track with special colors and designs different from the usual ones used during the season.
As already indicated by FormulaPassion, the most characteristic one bears the signature of Daniel Ricciardo: the Australian from McLaren will pay tribute to the seven-time NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt, idol of the number 3 of the British team. In addition to this, Ricciardo will also have the opportunity to make a few laps behind the wheel of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo used by the late American driver in 1984.
The winner of the Italian Grand Prix, however, is not the only one to have made a change to his helmet. Among the protagonists, authors of a real retouch, there is also the other McLaren standard bearer, Lando Norris: the Englishman will face the entire weekend on the Circuit of the Americas with a livery that recalls the colors and stars present on the flag of the United States.
On the other hand, there are those who wanted to address a particular thanks of a more commercial nature such as Charles Leclerc; the Monegasque Ferrari will use a special helmet to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the Richard Mille. The Swiss company, known for the manufacture of luxury watches, is also celebrating its 10th year of collaboration with Scuderia Ferrari in Austin.
While Lando Norris has thus highlighted his connection with the United States, other drivers have instead opted for a livery more dedicated to the state of Texas, which welcomes this weekend, in its capital, the Formula 1 Circus. One of the most emblematic there is that of George Russell, with a Far West style livery that recalls the symbols and the figure of the sheriff.
In addition, the particular thought of the two Haas pilots could not be missing, Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. Both at the wheel of the only US team present on the starting grid, the German and the Russian will also take to the track, in the team’s home race, with colors and symbols belonging to the Texan culture. While Mazepin will take on the role of the Cowboy, with the typical hat in red on a white background, that of Schumacher will be closer to the iconography of the Far West.
Among the numerous pilots who could not resist the charm of Texas, there is also Valtteri Bottas: the Finn of Mercedes, winner of the last race in Turkey, has in fact applied on his helmet writings and colors that pay homage to the city of Austin, recognized as the World Capital of Live Music.
Apparently out of context, however, is the livery that will bring the Japanese of the AlphaTauri to the track Yuki Tsunoda. The autumn-style helmet will be used by the Japanese rookie in the United States in place of what would have been his home race in Suzuka, canceled from this year’s calendar. In this way, after what has already happened in Turkey with Red Bull and his team, Tsunoda will pay homage again to Honda, in its last year in F1.
Finally, the message he wants to convey is more noble Fernando Alonso, which will also show off a touching and unique livery (details here): the Spaniard from the Alpine will in fact use a helmet to keep the general attention on the volcanic eruption that is still underway in La Palma, in the Canary Islands. In this way, the two-time world champion will also start a fundraiser to be allocated to the victims of this disaster.
