If we listen to an informant, the Nintendo Switch 2 will have two new video games based on Mario, Nintendo’s emblematic character.
The person who shared this information is Midori, who was previously dedicated to sharing information about titles in the series. Person from Atlus. Apparently these video games have the code names ‘SPRed’ and ‘SilveStar’. As expected, this has generated various speculations.
Especially the term ‘Red’, which many believe actually means ‘Mario’, while ‘SP’ could be in relation to a 3D title from Super Mario Bros.which would not be strange.
We recommend: Review: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door feels like new again.
Since the plumber’s three-dimensional titles appeared, Nintendo has released a new one on each of its consoles.
Since the N64, all the company’s home systems have had a title like this and it happened with GameCube, Wii, Wii U and now the Switch.
Even the humble N3DS had its own 3D Mario, and that was Super Mario 3D Land. Nintendo almost always limits the release of three-dimensional titles in the series to one per console.
The only exception was the Wii, which had super mario galaxy and its sequel. So we could say that Midori is playing it ‘safe’, like claiming that the Switch 2 is going to have a new Mario Kart, Mario Tennis or Mario Golf, which is practically certain.
As for the other code name, SilveStar, it is more difficult to guess what it may be. Midori notes that it is another Mario game for Nintendo Switch 2 but not the approximate nature. In that sense we can only speculate, but another tradition of this company is to launch a 2D plumber title.
So this video game known as SilverStar could well be a delivery of this type. But this publisher and developer must confirm it.
