At the beginning of 2020 the so-called happened Nintendo Gigaleak, a flood of information inside the Kyoto house regarding choices and directions taken in the Wii and 3DS era that ended up out of the blue in the network. An unprecedented event and followed only by what happened recently with Nvidia and its GeForce Now.
To avoid further disasters of this kind, the Nintendo president Shuntaru Furukawaintends to take many measures, answering a question posed at the 82nd shareholders’ meeting:
“We are taking a number of initiatives to address information security threats and vulnerabilities. For the services we provide, initiatives include cooperating with external specialists and conducting diagnostics to check for safety issues. In addition, as part of our internal information security system, we introduced the Information Security Management System in 2017 and established our Data Security Board. Information management policies have been established and we have taken both physical and technical countermeasures. Additionally, we work to increase data security awareness among our employees through training and other means.”
In the era of leaks at all costs, therefore, the security of one’s digital infrastructures is the priority, put to the test in the pandemic period with developers and many professionals who found themselves working from home. Certainly not an ideal situation for those who want to keep secrets.
