Since the release of Switch, Nintendo has been committed to making its console a veritable paradise for indie games: Indie developers love Switch and Switch players love indies, and this magnificent relationship is now more than consolidated.
To celebrate another year spent together with this wonderful industry, Nintendo has released a video that reveals what they have been the 15 best-selling indie titles in 2021. The list contains some fairly obvious entries and others that turned out to be big surprises. In order of appearance (probably not of sales), we find:
- Cyber Shadow
- Unpacking
- Tetris Effect: Connected
- Stick Fight: The Game
- Curse of the Dead Gods
- Ender Lilies
- Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!
- Spelunky 2
- Road 96
- Subnautica / Subnautica: Below Zero
- Littlewood
- Islanders Console Edition
- Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition
- Eastward
- Axiom Verge 2
Among the most recognizable titles there are certainly Tetris Effect: Connected, Spelunky 2, Subnautica, Axiom Verge 2, and of course the Doki Doki Literature Club Plus phenomenon!. The others are all new … even if we had already spotted someone in the course of construction (like the dark fantasy Ender Lilies or the suggestive journey by Road 69), it’s always nice to know that the results matched expectations.
Get inspired by the Nintendo video and don’t hesitate to spend any remaining budget from the holidays on a nice car gift – you won’t regret it! You can top up your Nintendo eShop balance at this link.
