It was recently revealed that the legal battle between Nintendo and Gary Bowser reached his end. As expected, the victory was in favor of the Japanese company, and the hacker was sentenced to 40 months in prison. When the verdict was announced, the Big N issued a statement congratulating the United States District CourtFBI, and other organizations for this event.
In its letter, Nintendo mentions several departments of justice, thanking them for their role in the arrest and incarceration of Bowser, leader of Team Xecuter, a group of Switch hackers, that caused losses of $65 million dollars to the Japanese company. This was what was said about it:
“Nintendo appreciates the hard work and tireless efforts of federal prosecutors and law enforcement to curb illegal activities on a global scale that cause serious harm to Nintendo and the video game industry. In particular, Nintendo would like to thank the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington, the Department U.S. Justice Department, Real Estate Section, and the Department of Justice, Office of International Affairs for their significant input and assistance.”
