This month, the Delta emulator made its debut on the App Store for iPhone, quickly reaching the top of the free app rankings in the States, while in Europe it can be downloaded from the external store AltStore PAL. The emulator allows you to play Nintendo DS games in ROM version, with the inevitable risk of breaking the law if you download the games illegally. Its developer, Riley Testut, announces that the iPad-specific version is almost complete and will launch with Delta version 1.6. Testut revealed that the app is already available to its supporters on Patreon via the classic regular AltStore, as opposed to the Apple-approved PAL AltStore, which is EU-specific.
While the iOS version of the emulator already works on the iPad (and Vision Pro), a native version will be able to take full advantage of the iPad’s screen size. This will improve the user interface and offer more elaborate skins, including one that transforms the tablet into a sort of giant Nintendo DS Lite. Additionally, the new version will support iPad’s Split View feature, increasing the possibilities for multitasking while using the app.

After the release of the native iPadOS version of Delta, Testut will dedicate itself to introducing multiplayer between different devices. Currently, multiplayer is possible on Delta, but only on a single device, which is useful for playing via AirPlay on an Apple TV (albeit with noticeable input lag issues and less-than-smooth visuals). Additionally, Testut mentioned that Sega Mega Drive emulation is on the way: currently in beta, it will be released after the launch of the iPad version of the app.
