NieR: Automata Ver1.1a was released in winter 2023 and now the anime is returning with the second cour in its deux cours format— in summer 2024. The new chapter could herald even more desolation for the machines, check out the details below.
The anime series is being produced by studio A-1 Pictures, and it begins to prepare for a crude ending, episode 17 broke our hearts as we discovered the truth about A2’s past.
The first season of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a was released on January 8, 2023, and after many production issues, it ended late. A COVID outbreak prevented the project from going ahead as planned. A new season would let us see the end of the story in this summer season of 2024, Currently the androids are in the last consequences of the infection and the world in which they survive has already been shown.
The opening theme song will be by LiSA and is called “Black Box” while the ending will be in the hands of amazarashi. Remember that the anime is based on the video game developed by PlatinumGames and distributed by Square Enix. It is particularly praised for the scenarios; in the anime, the movement and character design are nothing short of fabulous.

NieR: Automata Ver1.1a: When is Chapter 18 coming out?
On Friday, August 9, 2024, chapter number 18 of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a. It will be titled “chile[D]“hood’s end”. The previous chapter is called “bad [J]“udgment” and it is one of the most painful so far.
A2 is recovering her memories and it seems that the loop that the androids are subjected to is only to improve the equipment. Each of the traumas of not being able to save his companions was always foreseen and even A2’s survival was sealed from the beginning.
At the beginning of the episode we see how A2 and 14 units sent by the commander arrive on Earth, but only half survive a laser attack. After landing, A2 takes command of the expedition because its original captain failed to survive.
After this the androids begin their mission and meet another group of abandoned androids, with whom they argue and fight.. They all talk about the loss of their companions and also about the family feelings they have developed over time.
Towards the end, they try to complete the mission together, after stabilizing an android, however, in a grotesque and ferocious way, they lose friends before reaching the base. When they achieve their objective, the machines finally announce that everything is a Machiavellian plan of humanity, which gives the androids personalities and complementary powers, the fact that a certain number and type of android reached the base and defeated the enemies was also part of the plan.
After this, some girls are infected and although they are still conscious, they fight terribly among themselves, with tears, accepting their defeat, they all mention that they are families and commit suicide or are killed, leaving A2 as the only and masterful survivor.
A2 lives and carries with him the memories and traumas of his previous experience. Below is the synopsis of the next episode:
“―― Confirmed the cessation of operations of the YoRHa unit <2B>, support objective of this unit.
―― From now on, the support objective will be moved to the YoRHa unit
Damage to unit A2 was confirmed due to the impact of the collapse caused by the appearance of a gigantic structure.
Although immediate maintenance is recommended, A2 expressed his refusal.
This unit will ensure the security of the support target and continue to request the execution of maintenance.”.
