The teams chosen to try to captivate the Mexican fans were the arizona cardinalsfacing the San Francisco 49erswhich ended in victory for the former by 31-14.
Before an official game, the NFL had already held exhibition-only games in countries like Japan, GermanyCanada, Sweden, Spain, Ireland, Australia, United Kingdom, and even Mexico.

New opportunity to grow
Recently, the NFL announced the international matches for the 2022 season, and 3 were chosen, including Mexico, in addition to England and Germany, which will host an American football duel for the first time.
Just as it happened in 2005, the Arizona Cardinals will be one of the main teams at the Azteca Stadium, home of the Águilas del América, and they still have to hear who their rival will be.
