Trump on Gaza Strip: “Phenomenal situation” and “best weather”
The Gaza Strip is in ruins and tens of thousands of people lost their lives in the war there. The new US President made questionable statements about this shortly after taking office. Trump praised the Gaza Strip for its “phenomenal seaside location” and “the best weather.” You could do “some beautiful” and “fantastic” things with it, Trump said in the White House about the sealed-off coastal strip.
When asked by a journalist whether he expected the current ceasefire to last, Trump said he was not confident. “It’s not our war, it’s their war.” The “other side” is “very weakened.” He went on to say that he had looked at a picture of Gaza; it looked like a large demolition site; most of the people there were dead. It had to be rebuilt in “a different way.”
