At Triumph they have a good taste for the special editions, that much is clear. Because today they are again launching three separate models, one-year flights if you will, which will only be offered for sale in 2022.
First up is the Thruxton RS Ton Up Special Edition. Those looking for a link with ‘ton’ in café racers can be forgiven for thinking about old ways of transporting beer, or the size of the bellies of regular customers in the pub, but there is another link. In the fifties and sixties, the ‘ton up boys’ were the heroes who dared to chase their machines beyond 100 miles, the ‘ton’. That ‘ton’ was already worn a badge of honor. Hence this tribute through Triumph’s contemporary cafe racer par excellence, the Thruxton RS. The Ton Up features a unique blue Aegean Blue fuel tank with black Jet Black graphics at the knees, outlined with a hand-painted silver trim. The white Fusion White seat cowl and the same color front fender are both finished with red Carnival Red “100” graphics. The saddle cover is further finished with a hand-painted black line. The side panels feature the hand-painted new Thruxton RS Ton Up logo in Jet Black, as do the headlight fairing and rear fender. Other details include the silver Matt Aluminum Silver fork guards and black wheels, engine covers and RSU springs. Optionally, the Thruxton RS Ton Up can be equipped with a cockpit cockpit, delivered in the matching Aegean Blue. Mechanically, everything we already know remains the same, a 1,200 cc two-cylinder with 103 hp peak power at 7,500 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm.
The second ‘sondermodell’ is the Street Twin EC1 Special Edition, which takes its name from the historic streets of East London’s EC1 postcode area, and its vibrant custom culture. The EC1 features a new Gray Matt Aluminum Silver and Matt Silver Ice tank design that has been manually lined with a silver line and special new EC1 graphics. The custom color scheme extends to the side panels, while the front and rear fenders are finished in Matt Aluminum Silver. An optional Matt Silver Ice windshield is also available. There are also the black wire wheels, the black headlight housing and black finished mirrors and engine covers and small turn signals at the front and rear.
Short code:
And last but not least there is the “221 Edition” of the Rocket 3 R and GT. 221 points to the maximum torque of the world’s thickest production engine, a torque that would not look out of place on the average regular bus. The 221 version gets a “Red Hopper” gas tank and contrasting black “Sapphire Black” fenders, headlamp housing, windshield, side panels, rear body and radiator caps. The “221” graphics at the knees and subtle graphics at the top of the tank complete the color scheme.
