DThe nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has risen again. As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced this Thursday morning, the world is now at 1651.4. On Wednesday, the incidence of 1607.1 exceeded the threshold of 1600 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for the first time. A week ago the value was still at 1388.5.
As the RKI further reported, citing data from the health authorities, the absolute number of new infections reported within 24 hours on Thursday was 294,931. 262,593 new infections had been reported the day before, compared to 262,752 a week ago. The total number of registered cases of infection in Germany since the beginning of the corona pandemic has increased to 17,990,141.
278 new deaths
According to the RKI, 278 further deaths related to the corona virus were registered within 24 hours. The total number of corona deaths recorded in Germany rose to 126,420.
The prime ministers of the federal states will discuss further corona policy with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) on Thursday. As of Sunday, only a few corona containment measures will apply across the board. Further protective measures are possible for hotspots, i.e. particularly affected regions. However, several federal states consider the regulation to be too imprecise and also criticize the deletion of the catalog of measures as premature.
Vaccination topic in the Bundestag
On Thursday, the Bundestag will also be discussing draft laws for general corona vaccination for the first time. The MPs should make a decision on the various proposed models at the beginning of April.
The Federal Court of Justice will decide in the morning on state compensation for the hospitality industry in the pandemic. In the specific case, a hotel with restaurants in Brandenburg sued, but a landmark judgment with consequences for numerous cases before German courts is expected in Karlsruhe.
