In a ranking of world-famous sights, an attraction that every child knows came in last place.
Los Angeles – Everyone who likes to travel has probably had such an experience: You dream of a magical experience because you are seeing a world-famous attraction for the first time – and then the disappointment about reality is huge. Maybe you just caught a bad day, the conclusion could be – too many tourists or bad weather, for example. But now there is a more objective ranking than just one visit. And which attraction wins the title “Worst attraction in the world” is quite surprising.
“Worst attraction in the world”: New ranking surprises with flop place for attraction
It is one that almost every child knows: The “Walk of Fame” in Los Angeles in the USA. Based on Tripadvisor and Google reviews, the company “Stasher” examined 99 world-famous attractions, and the street in Los Angeles landed in last place. Criteria other than the comments on the Internet were also included in the evaluation, such as the ratings for the accommodations within 1.5 kilometers (via Booking.com) as well as the distance to the nearest airport and tourist safety based on the “Global Peace Index”. A maximum of 10 points was possible in this way. The “Walk of Fame”, on which Hollywood and entertainment stars such as Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson and Charlie Chaplin are immortalized, scored just 3.73 points (as of March 16, 11:50 a.m.).
The reasons for this are obvious. Of more than 17,700 reviews on Tripadvisor, more than 2,400 are “poor” for the tourist destination in California, and almost 1,200 are even “unsatisfactory”. There is criticism for the dirt on the streets, as well as drug use and the high level of homelessness in the area. It is also said that the 2.5-kilometer “Walk of Fame” is much shorter than you might imagine.
“I advise any person going to LA to just skip this ‘attraction'”
The editor-in-chief of comes to a similar conclusion travel book, Larissa Konigs. She writes in a comment: “The Walk of Fame was dirty, most of the ‘celebrities’ in the stars were unknown to me, the whole area felt seedy and at one point I felt downright unsafe with the many more sinister figures on the street . Ever since that experience, I’ve been advising every person going to LA to just skip this ‘attraction’.”
And which attraction did best? One that has significantly less world fame: Plaza de Espana in Seville, Spain. He gets 8.13 points. Second place goes to the Matterhorn in Switzerland (8.08), third place to the “Puy du Fou” park in France. The best-rated German attraction is the Europapark in Rust (12th place, 7.36 points). Neuschwanstein Castle is the only other German attraction in the list, ranking 31st. Among the lowest-rated attractions are other world-famous sites: Machu Picchu in Peru at 98th, the Great Wall of China at 94th, and the Great Pyramid of Giza 90th in Egypt.
Where are you going on vacation? The exchange rates could be a decision criterion for many Germans. We name countries where you can currently get more for your euros than until recently. (cgsc)
