The expansion and creation of new lines of the Guadalajara Light Train were among the main proposals that were made this Saturday in the second debate that organizes the Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute (IEPC) Jaliscothis around the gubernatorial election that will take place on June 2, 2024.
During the second debate, the candidates and the candidate for the governorship of Jalisco, Claudia Delgadillo, Laura Haro and Pablo Lemusissued their best proposals regarding infrastructure and public spending, finances and public works, transparency and accountability, and the fight against corruption.
It was from the first block of second debate for the governor of Jalisco that two of the three candidates focused on promote works to improve mobility and public transport service already existing for the citizens who live in Zapopan, Guadalajara, Tlajomulco, Tlaquepaque and El Salto, some of the municipalities that make up the Metropolitan Zone of Guadalajara.
“We are going to restore truck routes in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. There will also be two new train lines that will walk from the Akron Stadium, to the Guadalajara Expo, to the Airport and they will also be doing so in the different areas and spaces of the Guadalajara metropolitan area,” he said. For its part, Pablo Lemus, former municipal president of Zapopan and Guadalajara and current candidate for governor of Jalisco for Movimiento Ciudadanosaid that in addition to inaugurating the Light Rail Line 4 currently being built in Tlajomulco will also seek to extend the Line 1 from Centro Sur to the San Agustín sector, also located in the municipality of Tlajomulco.
“This will help reduce traffic on Avenida López Mateos,” said the Emecista around the avenue also known as the exit to the neighboring state of Colima.
Pablo Lemus added that they will seek to expand the Line 3 of the Light Rail. “From where it begins to the head of Tlajomulco”, in addition to building “a public transport branch to Valle de los Molinos by road to Colotlán.”
The Citizen Movement candidate said that he will also promote the creation of the Line 5 of the Guadalajara Light Rail and explained the most important points of the Metropolitan Zone where the route could pass.
This Line 5 will be touching the municipalities of El Salto, Tlajomulco, Tlaquepaque, Guadalajara, and Zapopan. It begins in El Salto, passes through the Guadalajara Airport, later Tlaquepaque in El Álamo, Agua Azul Park, La Minerva, and ends at the Akron Stadium in the municipality of Zapopan.

Finally, Pablo Lemus Navarro said that “20% (percent) more public transportation units will be purchased so that you no longer have to wait in the municipality of Tlaquepaque.”
