New BMW M2 engine
The engine of the new BMW M2 has been updated to offer even more power greater and improved torque delivery. The six-cylinder in-line engine with technology M TwinPower Turbo now produces 353 kW/480 hp and a maximum torque of 600 Nm, available between 2,650 and 6,130 rpm. This engine, equipped with technologies such as high-precision injection and variable timing of the valves, ensures linear power delivery up to high rpm, ideal for use on both the road and the track.
Improvements include a mapping more responsive throttle and an immediate response to acceleration requests, managed through the menu M Setup. The new BMW M2 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds with the M Steptronic gearbox eight-speed as standard, or in 4.2 seconds with the six-speed manual gearbox optional. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/hbut can reach 285 km/h with the M Driver’s Package.
The engine is built with technologies derived from racing experience, such as a rigid base, forged crankshaft and specially coated cylinder bores. The M-specific cooling system and the oil pump a controlled mapping guarantee optimal performance even in extreme conditions.
The M Steptronic transmission offers three settings Drivelogic for advanced gearbox management, while the manual gearbox includes the Gear Shift Assistant for shifting without slipping when braking.
Price, how much does the M2 cost
The price of the new BMW M2 will touch the 80,000 euros. It will be launched worldwide with phased production starting from August 2024 at the BMW Group plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, where it will be built together with the new one BMW 2 Series Coupe.
