He Martin Carpena Malaga is preparing to host a new edition of the Davis Cup, with Spain seeking to achieve the seventh ‘salad bowl’ in its history. The national team will face the Netherlands in the quarterfinals, with an eye on reaching the semis against Canada or Germany.
We know the Spanish team very well. ‘The Armada’ will be made up of Carlos Alcaraz, Pedro Martínez, Roberto Bautista, Marcel Granollers and, of course, Rafael Nadal, who will play the last tournament of his career after more than a year of breaks and injuries. But, what about the Dutch team? Their list is as follows.
Tallon Griekspoor and Botic van de Zandschulp are the main names in Dutch tennis, and the only ones in the Top-100 of the world rankings (38th and 68th respectively). The team is completed by Jesper de Jong (131), and doubles players Robin Haase and Wesley Koolhof.

Hard road to reach the quarterfinals
The Netherlands managed to advance to the quarterfinals after an outstanding victory against Brazil, although they could not overcome Italy or Belgium in the following series. In the duel against Brazil, Botic van de Zandschulp fell in two sets against Joao Fonseca, but Tallon Griekspoor secured a victory in their individual match. The duo of Koolhof and Van de Zandschulp consolidated the victory by winning the doubles match, securing the Dutch’s place in the next round.
However, the road was uphill in the following series. Against Belgium, Griekspoor lost his singles match, while the doubles team was also unable to prevail, allowing the Belgians to take the series. Against Italy, Dutch hopes were quickly dashed with singles defeats to Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Cobolli, ending their participation in the phase.
