According to statements reported by international media, the Israeli Prime Minister has also recalled the country’s responsibility in the death of Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged this Sunday for the first time that Israel was behind the attacks with pagers and walkie-talkies September in Lebanon, and which left at least 40 dead and more than 3,500 injured.
Thus, according to ‘The Times of Israel’, which cites leaks to the Hebrew media, Netanyahu has confirmed Israeli responsibility, while recalling his responsibility in the death of Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah.
“The pager operation and the elimination of Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah were carried out despite the opposition of senior officials in the Defense establishment and those responsible for them in the political ranks,” he said.
Although the explosions of September 17 and 18 were initially attributed to a computer attackUS officials confirmed to ‘The New York Times’ that Israeli Intelligence had managed to hide explosive material within a new batch of some 3,000 ‘seekers’ imported to Lebanon.
Explosive material was introduced into these devices between 30 and 60 grams along with the battery of each ‘pager’ and a system that could be activated remotely for detonation upon arrival in Lebanese territory, after which Hezbollah distributed them among its members in Lebanon, Syria and even Iran.
