The actress Nathaniel Sanchez won the hearts of thousands of Peruvians by giving it life in 'There is room at the bottom' to Fernanda de las Casas, the granddaughter of Francesca Maldini, a woman whose family has a great income that many would like to have. Her love story with Joel Gonzales, a young man of limited resources, played by Erick Elera, managed to make her followers remember her fondly today. However, far from Peru and outside of 'AFHS', the artist polished other talents that she possesses, including singing.
—Recently, you released your first song, what motivated you to release it?
—Look, what motivates me is to communicate and I will always find, or I will always explore, all possible ways. I do it through acting, then I'm doing it through dancing, now through singing I'm also about to launch a video podcast. My idea always, or my driving force, is to be able to transmit my experiences, my learnings, inspire and motivate. This idea was born many years ago when I did a collaboration with Daniel de Guevara called 'Tú y yo' and he tells me: “Nataniel, let's make a song in which you sing alone“, because he is also a music producer and my vocal coach. So I tell him: “I love the idea, what should we talk about? (in the song)?”. At that moment I didn't know very well what I wanted to talk about, but we said: “Well, let's see.” In the end, our times opened up and we couldn't make that proposal, that idea, effective. that project; but since God's times are perfect and things always arrive at the moment they have to arrive, last year I told him: “Let's do the song”.
I sent him some writings that I had saved and he helped me compose the lyrics, and convert the writings into musical composition. Then, together with Jorge Cuba, who is the music producer, they composed the melody. I was clear that the melody that came out of there had to be a melody that made my skin crawl. There were several previous proposals that I didn't like, not because they were bad, but because I didn't feel that they didn't go with what I wanted to communicate; until one day, in a video call they started making chords, making proposals and I said: “This is it”, and it stuck.
I am here, in Peru, to record the video clip as well and the idea is to present it. I want to enjoy this moment. 'It's me who says goodbye to you' is a bachata in which I have put my vulnerability and my history. It is bringing me many beautiful things, the possibility of being in my beautiful Peru, of enjoying my people. I have been received with so much affection by the people on the streets, the taxi drivers, my colleagues in the programs I am going to. I want to enjoy it and we will see later, because it is also true that I may get a movie and have to stop the musical project. I am a free soul.
—You told me that since your return from Spain the public has received you with quite a bit of acceptance. Do you think the role you played in Fernanda's siege has anything to do with it?
—Yes of course. That role took me to the hearts of Peruvians and of the Bolivians, the Ecuadorians, the Paraguayans; and of course it has a lot to do with it because I spent 8 years in the families without knowing it, because we are not aware of what family we are entering. But yes, of course it had to do with it because they met me there and then there is many people who after Fernanda decided to meet Nataniel and listen to Nataniel, and see Nataniel.
—Did you feel that Fernanda de las Casas limited you? That is, people pigeonholed you under the role you played in 'At the bottom there is room'
—It depends on how you look. Everything in life depends on how you look at it. I have done many things before 'At the bottom of the place' and I continue doing things after 'At the bottom there is room'. People, when there is a product, a series in which they become attached to your character, are going to remember you for that character. For example, Wendy from 'Pataclaun', Carlín from 'Pataclaun', Machín. You see the protagonist of 'Game of Thrones' and you relate it to 'Game of Thrones' because it was a successful series, but those actors continue doing things, they continue doing other things. So seeing it negatively is absurd. because, on the contrary, how nice that a character accompanies you and has remained in the minds of the viewers, of course I know that people have investigated and see what I can offer them.
—Don't you regret having said that you wouldn't return to 'At the bottom there is room' not even for a million soles?
—I have not said that I would not return to 'At the bottom there is room' not even for a million soles. Who has said that?
—He is in an interview with Jesús Alzamora.
—It's out of context. What I said was that I wasn't going to stay there for a million. That was when I was going to talk about quitting. I was going to give up 'At the bottom there is room' and I mentally worked on that resignation for a year because I knew that they could offer me money, and I had to be aware that they could offer me a large amount of money if I said: ” Leave”.

Because my character was important and I thought that, even though they offered me a million, which obviously wasn't going to happen, would I be willing to come back? In that context I must have said it and I thought that, even if they offered me whatever they offered me, she would not return. I had already made the decision to resign, but that was a year's work. Would they change my mind? Because, of course, a decision like that is not made so easily. We are talking about a series in which I participated for 8 years, which I greatly appreciated.
—Nowadays would you think about returning to the series?
—One can never say 'you should not drink this water' because in the end life gives you surprises. Suddenly they offer me a role that challenges me, that excites me and I say: “Oh, yes.”. Suddenly one day I wake up and say: “Ah, now my times can be put together and I can give myself the chance to come back.” Who knows?, but today I don't have a proposal to return. We have talked before, but there are a series of factors that have not come together for that to happen, but I can't tell you that I wouldn't go back. Th
at's not going to come out of my mouth because, as long as I'm alive, there will always be the possibility.

—Would you work on 'The Great Chef'?
—I am always open to listen to proposals and, if the times adapt and the proposal is interesting – the times not only of how long each program lasts, but also whether I am in Madrid and have a job or not have a job – will depend on what moment in my life I am at. and what projects I vibrate with, but I am always open to listening to any proposal.
—Would you accept Erick Elera's proposal to record a song?
—I have told him to record years ago and since he's an egg-cup, because I tell Erick like that, he doesn't throw me the ball. If Erick Elera proposes it to me, of course we would have to ensure that it is a very good production because I don't do anything halfway. I want everything to be of quality and, if things come together, how can they not?
—Do you have any connection with the writer Blanca Varela?
—No. Not that I know of.
—Many compare the story of Alessia and 'Jimmy' with that of Fernanda and Joel, does it bother you?
—No, no, why would it bother me?
—Aarón Picasso was changed to Jorge Guerra in the series, would it bother you if the same thing happened with Fernanda de las Casas?
The scriptwriter or the channel would have to ask that because in the end, after 8 years of a character, it is better to bring another one and give him another life. They can do whatever they want.
