The activities of the third day of the activities and programs of the Ishraqat Festival, organized by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, witnessed a large turnout from intellectuals and those interested in knowledge and its relationship to human values, as a number of Arab and international intellectual and creative figures spoke during the various sessions, within the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, as it hosted sessions “Discussion Insights” by the writer and novelist Hassan Abdel Mawjoud and the writer Aisha Al-Basri, in a talk that focused on the relationship between the novel and the media in promoting coexistence and human values, while the two sessions were moderated by the Arab publisher Ahmed Rashad. In an open dialogue between writer Roxana Javier and a large number of intellectuals and exhibition-goers, moderated by Dr. Zainab Al-Qaisi, it focused on the importance of knowledge in enriching the culture of tolerance among different groups of people.
The “Story Enlightenments” sessions also witnessed discussions by a number of writers and storytellers, including the Egyptian creator Samah Abu Bakr Ezzat, who reviewed with the exhibition audience her book “The Secret of the Yellow Hats” and the role of children’s books in presenting their humanitarian message in a simple and surprising manner at the same time. “Inspiring Sunshine” discussed a number of experiences of writers and inspirational people in open dialogues with exhibition-goers.

His respect for others increases, and his commitment to his best values is strengthened, and here the importance of coexistence emerges.”
His Excellency explained that the goal of the “Ishraqat” Festival was and will continue to be to promote the message of tolerance and human brotherhood through words, visual language and other artistic and literary expressions, stressing that engaging thinkers, authors and artists with school students in an open dialogue about knowledge and values can contribute to drawing a better and more future. Tolerance and prosperity for the Emirates and the entire world, and that interacting with the festival’s discussions and performances, participating in pioneering activities to develop ideas, knowledge, literature and the arts, exchanging valuable information, and exploiting human commons, undoubtedly contributed to enhancing authentic human values and shaping a better, more peaceful and prosperous future for the Emirates and the world.

Egyptian novelist and writer Hassan Abdel Mawjoud, during a session entitled “Between the Novel, the Media, and the Public of Knowledge,” affirmed that identity is fixed in the human gene, and that different human values are only a mirror of the identity of individuals and societies, pointing out that tolerance and coexistence are not separate from identity, but rather form together. A sublime human condition, and that the cognitive and economic production of any country and the extent of its success depends on each individual’s belief in national identity.
He appreciated the role of “Ishraqat” as a platform for creative people around the world, for each of them to contribute his contribution and knowledge in promoting human values, which are necessary to overcome the dilemmas of this era.
In turn, the Moroccan novelist Aisha Al-Basri confirmed, during the session “The Novel between Identity and Values,” that identity for her is a door towards freedom and pluralism, and that the collections of poetry and novels that she has published so far are always haunted by the question of identity, which is a question that is justified for the creators of the Arab Maghreb, whose walks are diverse. Cultural between Andalusian Arabic, Amazigh, French, Islam and Christianity, a mixture that can create its own identity that depends on the nature of societies and the challenges they face, but which is more open to others and receptive to peaceful coexistence with them.
She added that the values of identity are inseparable from the values of tolerance, coexistence, acceptance of the different other, and acceptance of coexistence with him, stressing that identity can turn into alienation in light of societies that do not believe in the values and face chronic economic and social crises.
