The Indonesian Grand Prix appears to have given a definitive turning point to the 2022 MXGP season. Not that there were big doubts about it, but with seven rounds left of the season, Tim Gajser seems to have reached out to his fifth world title, fourth in the top class.
On the Samota-Sumbawa track, with really impressive heat and humidity, the Honda rider had good and bad weather. The first heat was a real domination, with the Slovenian who took the lead right from the opening of the starting gate and kept it up to the checkered flag.
In race 2, Jorge Prado, always brilliant at the holeshot, and Romain Febvre tried to put a spoke in his wheel. Even in this case, however, it did not take him long to beat the competition, winning over the Spaniard of GasGas with a sensational overtaking outside that immediately made him understand that it was not necessary to even try to replicate.
With a double second place, Prado took the place of honor also in the GP, returning the direct rival of Gajser also in the World Championship, albeit behind by 125 points. Jeremy Seewer has in fact lived a weekend from hell, even remaining out of the top 10 in race 1 and finishing ninth in the final classification with his Yamaha.
Ruben Fernandez went to the lowest hail of the podium, author of a very concrete weekend with a third and a fourth place. At Honda, therefore, not only do they dominate with Gajser, but they also seem to have found a worthy heir for the future. Wood medal instead for Febvre, who paid for the fifth place in race 1 with his Kawasaki, which made the third of race 2 vain in view of the podium. Finally, Mattia Guadagnini was the best of the Italians, finishing eighth. Same placement achieved in both heats by the GasGas driver.

MX2: Vialle returns as leader but with the thrill
If the MXGP now seems to be marked, the battle is more open than ever in MX2, with Tom Vialle and Jago Geerts continuing to alternate at the top of the standings. Smiling this time is the KTM rider, who with a great brace took back the leadership with 4 points of margin over his Yamaha rival.
In Race 1 it was a battle between the two title contenders, even if at a distance the Frenchman managed to take off, preceding the Belgian and an excellent Simon Langenfelder under the checkered flag. In the second, however, there was also the thrill, because during the fifth lap Vialle went off the track, hitting a commissioner.
However, this did not prevent him from returning to the track and getting back on the hunt for Langenfelder, who, however, made a mistake in his turn, returning the summit to the transalpine driver. In this second heat, on the other hand, Geerts struggled, only fifth, who therefore in one fell swoop saw the podium fade in favor of Thibault Benistant, fourth and third in Indonesia, and the Red Table.
Good weekend for Andrea Adamo who, after finishing the first stage in seventh place, battled for a long time for the podium in the second, but in the end finishing in fourth position with his GasGas. Placements that earned him the top 5 in the final standings of the day.
