According to the BBC, The Lost Bass Project received tips that the stolen instrument had ended up with the landlord of a local pub. A family living in Sussex contacted the members of the project and told them about the bass that had been stuck for decades.

“We received a lot of contacts because everyone wished the best for McCartney and wanted to help,” a journalist who was involved in the project tells the BBC Naomi Jones.

Sir Paul McCartney's representative says he is “immensely grateful” for the instrument's return.
