A few days before the third consecutive GP of the championship after Aragon and Motegi, the team Honda LCR officially communicated theabsence of Takaaki Nakagami for the appointment in Thailand, with the Japanese rider once again injured after the home race. Even before the stage in the Land of the Rising Sun, the Japanese driver had to deal with the fall which took place during the first lap in Spain, when he had the worst following a contact with Marc Marquez. Eager to be able to participate in the home test anyway, Nakagami had undergone surgery to reduce tendon injuries in his fourth and fifth toe, thus being able to get back on the saddle in time for last weekend.
However, the short time before returning was not enough to avoid the risk of a relapse, so much so that the 30-year-old suffered a new tendon injury of the little finger. For this reason, Nakagami will be forced to another operation on Friday 30 September, with the return to the track scheduled for Phillip Island, Australia, from 21 to 23 October.

For this reason, the Honda LCR team has made official the name of the replacement: Tetsuta Nagashima. The Japanese, who had made his debut as a wild card in Motegi, will thus have another opportunity to stand out in the premier class, commenting on his promotion to the role of substitute: “I am very sorry for Takaaki and wish him a speedy recovery – he has declared – in Thailand I will do my best in your place. I had a lot of fun in Japan, I’m learning a lot and this weekend I will continue to do so on the MotoGP ”.
