The summer break has allowed MotoGP to catch its breath to restart with the second half of this very demanding season. However, even with the engines off there has been no shortage of news or rumors, some verified others not. One of these saw the possible farewell of Enea Bastianini to KTM even before 2025 began.
The rider from Romagna has signed an agreement with the Tech 3 team, which will have official RC16s starting next year, thus leaving Ducati. During the summer break, however, some rumors had Bastianini ready to leave the Austrian manufacturer to join the Pramac team, thus going to ride a Yamaha. These rumors have not only never been verified, but have now been denied by the person directly involved.
“These are rumours that I also heard during the break,” he explained. Beast on the Thursday of the British Grand Prix. “But I have always been convinced of the choice I made. Pramac? The offer had arrived even before, but I think that today KTM is the best solution for me, even if I haven’t yet got on the bike”.
Leaving Ducati to go to KTM will be a leap into the unknown, an important change that could be decisive for Bastianini’s career. However, Enea will find Alberto Giribuola, his historic crew chief with whom he obtained excellent results and collected many satisfactions: “It’s a change in any situation, but finding my crew chief is one of the aspects that I evaluated to put together the best possible condition”.

During the summer break, there was also time for some adrenaline rushes. Bastianini was one of the protagonists of the WDW, the Ducati event that received a lot of approval but that brought with it several controversies, mainly due to the accident between Nicolò Bulega and Marc Marquez. Enea was an exceptional spectator: “I was detached, I wasn’t riding with Bulega. It went like this, I’m sorry for Nicolò who maybe even hurt himself a bit. Let’s say that Marc could have avoided entering like that, but I understand that when you’re racing, there are those who can manage themselves and those who can’t”.
Now it’s time to focus on the world championship, which starts again this weekend at Silverstone: “I see it well, I really like the track, it’s fast and unique. Let’s hope it’s a sunny weekend. It’s definitely lacking a bit of explosiveness, that’s what I’ll be looking for in the next races.”
“I’m fast, often like the winner of the race. So it motivates me, but on the other hand I say ‘why do I always start so far back?’. I have to keep working on improving my flying lap, trying to do something different. It’s something that has to come by itself and I hope it comes soon, so I can compete in the races,” Bastianini said.
The Ducati rider is in fourth place in the overall standings, just 11 points behind Marc Marquez, third. Will the top 3 be the goal? “Marc is very fast, it will be difficult to fight with him. But I think I can do it and I have the chance to succeed. At the moment, the first two riders in the championship, Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin, are very fast and it will not be easy to close the gap to them. But we will see,” concluded Enea.
