“We see sabotage attempts and strikes by Ukrainian forces on targets in the territory of the Russian Federation,” said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konachenikov.
He added, “If these actions continue, the Russian army will carry out strikes on command centers, including sites in Kyiv, which is something the Russian army has refrained from doing so far.”
Russian forces withdrew at the end of March from the Kyiv region after trying to besiege the capital for a month and launched strikes on it.
Moscow has hypersonic missiles that are said to be indestructible in the air due to their speed, and has confirmed that it has used them in Ukraine.
On the other hand, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russian forces had fully taken control of the commercial port area in the strategic city of Mariupol, located in southeastern Ukraine.
The leader of the pro-Russian separatists in Donetsk fighting alongside the Russian army in Mariupol made the same announcement.
The territory of the Lugansk region
For his part, a separatist leader in eastern Ukraine announced that about 90 percent of the territory of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic is now under the control of the separatists.
“80 to 90 percent of the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic has been liberated from groups of Ukrainian nationalists,” said Leonid Pasichnik, the leader of the separatist Lugansk People’s Republic, during Russian demining of a power station near the formerly Kyiv-controlled town of Chshastya.
He added that many towns, including Svir, Donetsk and Kremina were still under the control of the Ukrainian government.
Pasichnik noted that after the separatist forces finished “liberating” the rest of the lands, they would then decide whether to support the Russian forces or our “brothers” in the unilaterally proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic.
Pasichnik reiterated that the breakaway region wanted to join Russia, saying: “I think it will definitely happen this time.”
