The 29th edition of the Jumilla Wine Contest will be held on April 12 and 13. A total of 25 wineries attached to the Regulatory Council have already presented their best products for the sample tastings, which will be held at the Jumilla Wine Museum by a panel of experts.
The presentation was given by the president of the Regulatory Council, Silvano García, who was accompanied by the mayoress, Juana Guardiola; the Councilor for Agriculture, Juan Gil, and the general secretary of the winery entity, Carolina Martínez.
The technical director of the tastings will be Enrique Calduch, a position he has held since the first edition was held. On the first day, the tasters will be divided into groups, and each of them will taste all the assigned wines from the eight categories of the contest. On the second day, there will be a single group of tasters, who will taste the best valued products. “Throughout the Contest, the organization will guarantee the proportionality and representativeness of the tastings,” explained García. The winners of this 29 Contest will be announced at a gala dinner that will take place next April 14 in the Media Luna Halls of Jumilla.
The categories in which the wines will be grouped will be Whites, Rosés, Reds made without contact with wood (2021 and 2022 vintages), Reds made in contact with wood (2021 and 2022), Reds made in contact with wood (2020 and earlier). , Red Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva, reported the Regulatory Council.
