A total of 1,058 companies have already requested a Temporary Regulation File (ERTE) due to force majeure in the Valencian Community due to the floods caused by DANA, according to data updated this Thursday by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.
Through a message on their social networks, the Ministry has indicated that there are already 14,463 workers who benefit from this benefit within the framework of the situation derived from DANA.
The vice president assured that the Inspection is already working forcefully against non-compliant companies. “The mechanisms of the Ministry of Labor are deployed and functioning with absolute rigor (…) No company can put the life of any worker at risk,” stressed the Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Diazupon entering the International Labor Congress.
Until yesterday, the Ministry counted a total of 12,747 workers protected through this tool, with a total of 809 applicant companies.
From Labor they have indicated on their social networks that they will update this figure daily through the Ministry’s communication channels.
Likewise, the Minister of Labor has assured that she is mediating with “several non-compliant companies” that are putting their interests and private benefits before the lives of workers and has assured that the Labor Inspection is already acting “forcefully” on those companies that do not comply with the law.
«There is no company, no matter how large, that is going to break the law. The weight of the law is already falling on them,” he stressed. Diazwhile indicating that these days an emergency social dialogue table has been convened to address labor standards for the prevention of occupational risks in the face of climate emergencies, such as DANA.
Thus, it has asked companies to comply with the rules and recommendations so as not to put the lives of workers at risk and “change habits” because the climate emergency in Spain is already “evident.” “We have to learn,” he stated.
«I ask the workers of any of the affected areas (…), especially in the industrial sector, when there is a risk to life, the activity must be stopped and, of course, preserve health above all else. . “We are facing a catastrophe,” he concluded.
