During PlayStation’s latest State of Play event, Capcom offered a detailed overview of its new action RPG, Monster Hunter Wilds, providing a preview of the story, characters and various game systems. Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter: World players will be able to earn special bonus items in Monster Hunter Wilds, which releases in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. In Monster Hunter Wilds, players join a special team of the Research Commission to explore the Forbidden Lands – for the first time in the series, hunters face the unknown alongside their companions. The game features multidimensional biomes, capable of transforming in unpredictable ways: the first environment revealed is the Windy Plains, a vast region characterized by harsh deserts, twisted rock formations and rolling grasslands full of life.
The ecosystems of Monster Hunter Wilds are home to a variety of wildlife adapted to the environmental context. Smaller monsters include the Dalthydon, a migratory herbivorous wyvern, and the Ceratonoth, which uses its dorsal horns to protect its pack from storms. Large monsters also populate the Windy Plains, such as the massive and territorial Doshaguma and the fearsome amphibious Chatacabra, which uses natural materials to strengthen its body. Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay introduces new features while maintaining the elements fans of the series love. Players can seamlessly transition from story to gameplay and traverse vast environments thanks to Seikret, new rideable creatures. These animals allow you to perform moving actions, such as sharpening weapons and gathering materials. Additionally, hunters can switch secondary weapons while traveling, adapting to situations without having to return to base.
All 14 iconic weapon types from the series return in Monster Hunter Wilds, evolved with new actions. The game introduces Precision Mode for finer control over aiming and the Hook Slingshot, which offers additional abilities and the ability to pick up items from a distance. Finally, Capcom announced that players who connect Monster Hunter: World save data will receive bonus items such as the Felyne Leather Set and the Felyne Acorn. Those who link save data from the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion will earn the Felyne Leather Pouch and the Felyne Scouting Wedge.
