Moldova’s Interior Minister Anda Revenko announced on Thursday that about 2,000 refugees had crossed the country’s border with Ukraine, after the start of a military operation in the neighboring country. So far, we have recorded about 1,900 Ukrainians who have crossed the border into Moldova. Including entire families. Five people have asked for asylum,” the government official said at a press conference, according to Russian news agency TASS.

The interior minister explained that the Moldovan authorities are working on a state of alert, in addition to guaranteeing that a meeting will take place later this Thursday to discuss actions during the crisis in Eastern Europe.

The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, guaranteed that the country will resolve the refugee situation, while confirming the increase in a migratory flow at the border crossings with Ukraine.

“We will help people who need our help. At this moment, we are ready to receive tens of thousands of people”, explained the head of government.
