This came as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored, on the “Museum of the Future” platform in Dubai, the six winners of the first round of the “Arab Geniuses” initiative awards, the largest of its kind in the Arab world to honor the outstanding Arab minds with exceptional and distinguished contributions to the paths of knowledge, science and technology. He performed more than 10,000 heart surgeries on children and adults, and contributed to the design and development of the first flexible heart valve that can grow inside a child’s chest in conjunction with his physical growth.

He is president of the Saudi Cardiology Society and joined Cleveland Clinic in 2016 as head of the Institute for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery. He is a member of many national and international professional organizations, including the Gulf Heart Association, the Board of Trustees of the American College of Cardiology, and the European Society of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Professor Fadel Adeeb from Lebanon won the title of “Geniuses of the Arabs” initiative for the year 2023 in the engineering and technology category, for his distinguished achievements in expanding the boundaries of scientific knowledge, as a pioneer in the field of wireless technology, where his work had far-reaching effects in various industries and applications.
His doctoral thesis on “Seeing Through Walls” was selected as one of MIT's 50 most transformative contributions to computer science over the past 50 years.
Professor Fadel developed sensing techniques beyond walls, by monitoring pulses and moving objects and taking advantage of tracking radio waves and their echoes to monitor movements, in addition to marine monitoring devices that operate without batteries and gain energy from waves when operating in the depths of the oceans. These are advanced technologies that can be used in search and rescue operations.
Professor Fadel's research has expanded progress into areas vital to the future of development, such as healthcare monitoring, human gesture recognition, and collecting sensitive environmental data to monitor indicators of climate change.

In the economics category, Dr. Mohamed El-Erian from Egypt won the “Geniuses of the Arabs” award due to his valuable contributions, studies and consultations in the field of economics and his global orientations. Today, Dr. Muhammad Al-Erian is one of the most prominent economic advisors in the world. His economic theories and strategic visions are an important component of many local and international development policies.
Dr. Mohamed El-Erian worked at the International Monetary Fund. He was president of the World Development Council. He is the CEO of the Harvard Educational Endowment. He also worked as CEO of a number of major global institutions that manage assets worth more than $1.1 trillion in total.

She has contributed to the design of smart materials used in biomedical systems and is based on the manufacture of molecular assemblies at the nanoscale.

Professor Lina Al-Ghatmeh developed the designs of many urban landmarks, such as the Stone Garden Tower in Beirut, Lebanon, her birthplace, the National Stadium in Japan, the Science Center in Naples, the “Wonderlab” exhibition in Beijing, the Estonian Museum, and others.
She also participated with distinguished works in prestigious international events, such as Expo Milano 2015, and the 17th Architecture Biennale Exhibition in Venice, Italy. Professor Al-Araj participated in establishing and managing the Terminology Laboratory in Paris, which supervises many narrative and translational research at both the University of Algiers and the Sorbonne University. The professor provided support and academic advice to many university research teams in important academic research on the Arabic novel, narrative forms, aesthetic paths, and literary practices.
Professor and novelist Wassini Al-Araj has been a chair professor at the University of Algiers since 1985, and a professor at the French University of Sorbonne since 1994. He heads the Department of the Arabic Track in the Department of Applied Languages of the Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Civilizations of Foreign Societies at the Sorbonne University.
