The Indian Prime Minister is promoting vacations on local islands. This is followed by a serious diplomatic crisis with the Maldives. Some Indians are now calling for a boycott of the archipelago.
Wice sand, gentle waves and turquoise water: the Maldives are known as a holiday paradise. There are also said to be fantastic beaches in neighboring India. At least this is the impression that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to create last week with his visit to a hitherto little-known Indian holiday region.
On Platform “Recently I had the opportunity to visit the people of Lakshadweep. I continue to marvel at the breathtaking beauty of its islands and the incredible warmth of its people,” Modi wrote.
