It had been known for days that Imola it would have entered the 2022 calendar. But intentions and declarations are one thing, another is the official nature of Formula 1 itself. Waiting for the formal announcement by Liberty Media that it will link the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Autodrome to the Circus until 2025 (so far those of the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region Stefano Bonaccini and that of the Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio have arrived), Imola can uncork the champagne for what is there third consecutive presence in Formula 1 after a 14-year separation. The first as a structural date of the calendar, that is an event conceived and planned from the beginning, without last minute substitutions.
Naturally euphoric was the president of Formula Imola Gian Carlo Minardi: “The presence of Imola in the 2022 calendar is an extraordinary result, which could only be achieved thanks to a perfect and cohesive team play. For this I want to thank ACI, the Government, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Municipality of Imola and CON.AMI, who have worked in full synergy to achieve this prestigious goal, which will see Imola also in 2022 as the first European appointment, on the weekend of 22 – April 24, wishing us the stands full of fans“.
