It was not the semester of Millionaires. Nothing was going to work out for him and he didn’t. In Pereira, this Saturday, on date 5 of group A, he put up a fight, he was excited about the victory, he seemed like a vindictive Millonarios, ready to fight for the final, he won 1-2, but in stoppage time he went back to sleep and fell asleep. He destroyed his castle. He allowed the tie and with that result he no longer has a chance of qualifying for the final.

This looked like another Millionaires. Not the faded one that has wandered in group A, no, this was a more determined Millonarios, clearer, with more impetus and with more football. It seemed. A Millionaire determined to win. He went out to play with that conviction. Willing to vindicate himself and stay alive, in fact, willing to enter the fight for a place in the final. But in the end the illusion faded.
One minute into the game, Millonarios had already come close with a header from Arias that went wide. It was just a warning that this Millionaires was not going to give advantages.
After dominating a good part of the first half and complicating Pereira’s game, Millonarios found the first goal. It was a play from the right, an uncomfortable center from Arias into the area. Carvajal fell, but left the ball served for Daniel Ruiz who did a magic trick, hid the ball against four rivals and took a tight shot to the side to beat the goalkeeper and make it 1-0.
The celebration was effusive, and no wonder. Millonarios stumbled in the group and with that goal he got back on his feet.
Even Millonarios was able to expand before the break. Because Rivaldo missed a great option in front of goalkeeper Ichazo, and then Ruiz put a free kick on the vertical.
Pereira’s performance in the first half was weak. Without options and without clarity in his attack. Darwin Quintero was cloudy. Ibargüen did not appear.
The second half was very intense. In the first minutes Millonarios arrived 3 times and was able to increase the score. Ruiz, Carvajal and Pereira failed.
The Matecaña team reacted, finally setting up their societies. They tried Cabrera and Piedrahíta, they failed. But Pereira had woken up.
But at minute 50 of that dizzying second half the tie came. A great collective play by Pereira, with a heel included from Darwin, the center from Monroy and an own goal from Alfonzo, 1-1.
However, Pereira’s happiness was short-lived, because there was a penalty for a push in the area by Suárez against Mackalister Silva, play revie
wed in the VAR. The person in charge of executing was Juan Carlos Pereira who scored 1-2. Millionaires was alive.
The match was interrupted by an altercation between both teams, which led to the expulsion of Daniel Giraldo. With 10 players, the blue team withstood the Matecaña gale, which launched all its weapons to tie the game.
Millonarios was excited, he fought, he thought he would leave Pereira alive, but no. The tie eliminated the ambassador team, which has 5 points and the most it can aspire to is 8 units (on the final date Pereira or Bucaramanga will surpass it regardless of what happens in the Junior vs. Bucaramanga game). Semester to forget.
