After having celebrated (in the square) the Scudetto, the number one of RedBird is expected shortly in Milan: it’s time for the signing. Then, immediately to talk with Maldini
He too celebrated in the square, like any fan. In short, almost. Because this man with the blue polo shirt who raises the thumb of his right hand, is the person who will directly manage the Rossoneri world that is shaking up behind him. Gerry Cardinale, number one of RedBird Capital, is about to officially begin his adventure at the helm of Milan. After overtaking Investcorp – somewhat surprising as the Bahrain fund seemed one step away from closing the deal – now is the time to take office and plan.
Visiting
–
Two closely related concepts, also because time is running out and planning is required in practically immediate times. Speaking of immediacy, as expected, the week that has just begun will be a fundamental week for the Milan to come. Cardinale, after having celebrated the tricolor and – among other things – also visited the Sesto San Giovanni area where the new (all) Rossoneri stadium could be built, is again expected in Italy. If not tomorrow, anyway soon. Very short. So much so that, from what emerges, the announcement of the acquisition by RedBird – or the confirmation of the happened signing (the signing of the preliminary sale agreement) – will most likely take place in the current week.
First point
–
The road towards the Rossoneri’s third handover in the last five years has therefore been traced. The very latest facelift by the legal offices and then everything will be official along the process that will lead to the actual closing (i.e. the passage of the shares) with more extended timescales. A couple of months, at least. If not more. As soon as the preliminary sale is signed – remember that the Elliott fund will remain in the share capital as a minority shareholder – Cardinale will immediately move on to the first point of his agenda: the Maldini folder. Bubbone, more than a binder, considering the words released a few days ago by the Rossoneri manager at the Journal. Maldini demands clarity and a face-to-face interview, and that’s what he’ll get. However, it remains to be seen whether what Cardinal will offer him will convince him. Paolo asks for an important project, aimed at improving the squad and decreasing the gap with the big Europeans. RedBird, for its part, does not intend to derogate from the virtuous management happily put into operation by Elliott, and therefore frankness and availability on both sides will be required. The feeling is that in the end a meeting point will be found, but it is evident that the appointment between the strong man of RedBird and the strong man of the Rossoneri market is rather delicate. After that, if the white smoke comes out of that room, we will move on to the operational phase of the market. And this would obviously be the best news of all.
