Milan-Cortina: work begins on the Olympic village in Porta Romana
Once the reclamation is complete, excavation work begins in the area of the Scalo di Porta Romana dedicated to the Olympic Village for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics and Winter Paralympics of 2026. In order to respect the timing of the construction and delivery of the Olympic village (31 July 2025) – according to Ansa – the Porta Romana Fund (promoted and managed by Coima Sgr and signed by Covivio, Prada Holding and the Coima Esg City fund Impact) presented to the Municipality of Milan a specific title to begin the excavations and the provisional works preparatory to the construction of the Olympic Village, pending the completion of the Conventioned Building Permit registered on 28 October last year.
Milan-Cortina: work begins on the Olympic village in Porta Romana
The Olympic Village represents the first piece of the great urban regeneration project of the Porta Romana Scalo and reflects the ‘Olympic spirit’ of Milan: functional to offer a primary space for the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, it will be returned to the city community through the transformation into student housing with over 1,400 beds. As foreseen by the ‘Parco Romana’ Masterplan, the village will be positioned in the area southwest of the Scalo and will guarantee continuity with the existing functions and the general balance of the neighborhood.
