The transfer of Miguel Ángel Borja to River Plate, from Junior de Barranquilla, was one of the novels on the market of mid-year transfers in South America.
After some problems in the negotiation and in the payment of the business, the arrival of Borja was about to be frustrated, but finally, the Colombian striker was able to travel to his second experience in Argentine soccer.
It should be remembered that Borja was in Olimpo de Bahía Blanca in 2014, where he arrived from Livorno, from Italy. He played 16 games and scored three goals. Interestingly, one of them went to River.
Borja’s first minutes with River
River’s coach, Marcelo Gallardo, sent him to the field in the 73rd minute, instead of Lucas Beltrán, in the match against Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata. And from the start, he had an action that almost cost him the red card. The attacker made a very strong tackle on Braian Alemán, on 10th Gymnastics. Fortunately for the Colombian, referee Yael Falcón did not consider that the action even deserved a yellow card.
Fortunately for Borja, the first match with the red stripe ended in victory. Beltrán, at 44 minutes, scored River’s winning goal, in which Juan Fernando Quintero was on the substitute bench, but did not enter.
River’s triumph allows him to climb the table
River shook off two games in which they could not win at their stadium and climbed to 12th place in the championship, with 12 points, the same as San Lorenzo, Banfield, Arsenal and Boca Juniors.
